On this date in 1881, Henry McCarty, aka William Bonney, aka Henry Antrim, aka Billy the Kid (his most famous alias), was shot and killed by Sheriff Pat Garret in Fort Sumner, NM.

I had forgotten about those other two aliases.
Howard Hughes had an interesting “take” on Billy the Kid in the movie (he produced) titled The Outlaw – 1943(with Jane Russell – yowzah!)
We could WISH the old west was like that.
(about as factual as a Congressional e-mail testimony).
