Cunanan

On this day in 1997, fashion designer Gianni Versace was shot and killed outside his home in Miami Beach, FL. Versace’s killer, Andrew Cunanan, had gone on a killing spree that started three months earlier in Minneapolis. Versace was Cunanan’s fifth and final (known) victim. Cunanan committed suicide on July 24th on a houseboat in Miami. His motive for the killings remains unknown.

    All over the city, cops were thinking and asking, who was, Johnny Versace. Organized Crime Task Force, was knocking their brains out, as it was a name they heard, but could not link to any crime family. Detective Squads all over were burning the phone lines, trying to find out about some “Made Guy”, Johnny Versace. The name. Made Guy, no doubt. Then the news photo. Two luscious women, one on each arm. Lucky bastard. Think. Must have been right under everyones’ nose, because somehow, everyone knew the name and recognized the face. Must be flying low under the radar.
    Then we find out.., no, he was a fashion designer.
