To steal a line from The Godfather Part III, “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!” It would appear that I have found more crack for my TV addiction. Gomorrah is an Italian TV series that is now airing — with subtitles, for those of us who don’t speak Eye-talian — on the Sundance network. I caught the first two episodes Tuesday night. This. Show. Rocks! This show is so gritty, it makes The Sopranos look like a sitcom. And I loved The Sopranos.
Long story short, Gomorrah is about organized crime in Naples. It was inspired by Roberto Saviano’s book of the same name, which also served as the inspiration for a 2008 film.
There are 12 episodes in season 1. Sundance is airing two episodes every Wednesday night at 10 PM. I guess I’ll be streaming episodes 3 and 4 this weekend. It’s too bad they don’t make the whole season available to stream. This show definitely needs to be binged on.
