R.I.P. Dracula, Fu Manchu, Rasputin, and a whole lot more. Apparently he disliked being thought of as a horror star, but he certainly scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.

When I was a kid, I used to love those Hammer horror films he did. Haven’t seen one of his in years, but I bet they still hold up.

Ahh, you and I are of similar minds today, sir.
(great minds sorta stuff…eh?)
🙂
(And in that Bond movie…Scaramanga damn near pulled that quote off)
Well done. A great choice.
Have to say…of ALL the Draculas we’ve had…HIS was the best (and longest run).
Scared me as well as a youngster.
Thank God for DVDs…Lee’s work will live on LONG after his passing.
(not a bad legacy).
Have a great weekend, and roll safe out there, boss.

One of these days, I’m gonna have to track down DVDs of some of his Dracula films. I’ve been feeling the urge to watch those for about a year now.

Christopher Lee did some spooky spec-ops stuff in WWII, and he never talked about it. Once he was being interviewed and the reporter asked what he had done. Lee looked around furtively, leaned toward the reporter, and said, “Can you keep a secret?” The reporter said yes, of course. Lee leaned back and said, “So can I.”
I don’t think he would have revealed sources and methods to congratulate himself on blowing up an ISIS facility like some people I could name.
We could use a few hundred like him in DC today.

Yeah, somewhere along the way, discretion ceased being a virtue. I’m not sure where that started, but it’s not good, in my opinion.

I remember seeing this movie in the theater. Loved it!

Great movie. Sadly, I never saw it on the big screen. I think Moonraker was the first Bond I saw in a theater.
