Over the last few weeks, I’ve been pretty busy with a little writing project. Under the Wall: The True Story of the 1945 Tunnel Escape from Eastern State Penitentiary is a true crime short about a prison break at the notorious Philadelphia prison. A dozen men, including infamous bank robber Willie Sutton, got out through a tunnel nearly a hundred feet long that took over a year and a half to build.

This one was a lot of fun to research and write. Under the Wall is about five thousand words long, which comes out to around twenty printed pages. It’s available as an ebook at Amazon and Smashwords. It should be up at other retailers (Kobo, Apple, B&N etc.) in the near future.

    Congrats on the book release.
    A LONG time ago, I used to attend the old (and still standing) Olivet Covenant Church at 22nd and Mt Vernon Sts…a mere spit and a slide from ESP.
    We used to walk past there a lot.
    So, the area brings back memories…even when it wasn’t near as bad as it has become.

    And I never heard about that breakout, either.
    I can see WHY it took that long to tunnel; under THOSE walls, too. That’s one HUGE-ass place…(takes up a whole damn city block…and THEN some)
    I did see a show that said it was haunted…would not surprise me one bit.

    Hope it becomes a top-rated read, Boss!

    • Thanks, Bob. I hadn’t heard about this escape until recently. Once I found out about it, I figured that someone needs to tell this story to a modern audience So I took on the task myself.
