“Do you have anything to say before we find you guilty?”
-Judge Roy Bean (Paul Newman), The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean (1972)
Thanks SO much for putting this quote here…I LOVE this flick.
(and the person ti’s based upon).
A brilliant classic (to me, anyway), and something we need a LOT more of today in our (in)justice system.
Have a great weekend and roll safe out there.
I’ve read a little bit about the real Judge Bean. He’s as interesting as the fictionalized version.
I would put this into the forgotten classic department. I think I was a kid the last time I saw this movie and frankly I had forgotten about it. But you know, it was a good movie!
I haven’t seen this one in years. It was brought to mind when I saw a documentary recently about John Milius, who wrote the screenplay.
