“It’s the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year’s Day.”
-Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen), The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988)

John D.:
Thanks for the uplift today…!
ANYTHING that comes from the mouth of Frank Drebin always produces a smile…
(not that he intended it that way…LOL!)
Loved the series and the movies…and Leslie Nielsen found his TRUE niche with comedy.
(and you KNOW it’s good comedy when Family Guy uses the old Police Squad openings for one of THEIR episodes (with Stewie)!
Great call, Boss.
Roll safe out there this weekend.
I was watching CREEPSHOW the other night. Leslie Nielsen is in it. It was weird to see him in a serious role, but once upon a time, that was his stock in trade. I have to give the guy credit for being so versatile, and for reinventing his career later in life.
And I just screened the 1980 AIRPLANE! last night for my kids! Good one, John.
AIRPLANE? Surely, you can’t be serious.
I am serious… and don’t call me Shirley.
Naked Gun!
Love that film, good quote
One of the classics of screwball comedy.
Watched it so many times I can remember the scene really clearly haha
Still one of the funniest films. Leslie Nielsen was on quite a roll.
Back in the mid 70s, I used to see him in guest roles on TV shows, usually playing a heavy. I never would have guessed he would turn into a comedy staple.
